LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

As Valentine’s Day approaches, the question arises, “What to get my love this year?”

Figuring out how to show your love just how you feel isn’t always easy or affordable, especially now, post-pandemic, with transportation issues and pricesof just about everything on the rise.

Traditionally, Valentine’s Day has been about chocolates, flowers and dinner at a romantic restaurant. As generations change so has how expressions of love are conveyed.

But, as time and history has shown, tradition is what warms the heart.

Flowers are a must for Valentine’s Day, or any day you want to share your love and connect with the heart.

So, how do you make a grand gesture without a grand hole in your wallet?

You have a few choices when it comes to flowers:

oGrocery stores –

Yup! They have the flowers and the roses, maybe even the color you are looking for.And wow, maybe even a bargain. Win-Win, right?

·In this floral professional opinion, not so much. Grocery flowers are premade, cookie cutter designs you can find on the first three hits of a flower search on google. The Teleflora, 1800flowers, Ava’s and Terry flowers, all fronts for unoriginal floral arrangements that large corporations are putting florists out of business every day. Not to mention, disappointing both sender and recipient when it comes to any sort of quality. If your lucky, the associates behind the floral counter actually know something about designing and the care and handling of flowers. But remember everything is premade, and sadly these rare designers that are not able to show their creativity and create anything of their own. They are merely bodies selling a premade item bought by someone hire up that gets the best deal not the best grower.

At the end of the day, these are the money makers that are the reason people lose faith in flowers and in the floral industry. But, if you’re in a jam, grocery stores rock!

oCostco, Sam’s club, and even Home Depot, all giving you exactly the bargain you pay for, lacking any sort of creativity and quality, but great for last minute or just because thoughts.

oFlorists - REAL FLORISTS AND EXPERIENCED DESIGNERS. - Although brick and mortar shops are far and few between and are as obsolete as the old hallmark gift card shops, they are out there. If not, they are DEFINITELY found online.

oThe trick is passing by the first 3-5 results when doing a google search. These are the paid ads of flowers brokers that buy with the same mind set as grocery, disguised as real florists. So, PASS THEM BY and start your florist search about the 6 hit down the page. Look at the website address commonly overlooked by senders everywhere. Don’t be tricked into buying flowers you can get 10x cheaper at the grocery store for EXACTLY the same arrangement or bouquet. Cookie cutter.

oOnce you find a real florist, look for websites that don’t have the exact same arrangements as every other website. You can tell the difference of originality and cookie cutter. Trust me.

oWhen you find that perfect shop- designer-florist, call them up, tell them a little about the recipient, things or colors they like, or the design style of their home. Give the designers the help they need to PERSONALIZE your flowers. It makes a sender feel a part of the creative process as well as the recipient feeling special and one of a kind. This can be done on a budget or with no budget. Taking the time to convey to our chosen designer about the recipient can make giving flowers for valentines extremely heartfelt!!’
